There was an old thread about Michael but it wasn´t good anymore. All that wacko stuff will fade and the music will live. Rest in peace. Can You Feel It?
HW seems to be all about obituaries at the moment...

I confess the death of Sky Saxon means immeasurably more to me.
I've loved The Seeds since I first heard Nuggets in 1981. One of the very best garage bands - looked and sounded great. RIP. |

Well, in the pub two nights back when the news was released there was only really a passing buzzing interest. No tears, no one saying how sad for him, no one
really that phased. Couple of jokes about him not getting to enjoy his own children the way he enjoyed other people's and someone adding "I hope
it's Gary Glitter next". Scottish people are harsh sometimes.
Had some good songs. Brian |

There was memorial shows of his stuff on the radio and I felt that there was a lot of admiration and love for his stuff. Every record store has already sold
out his records. I´m not going to get them but it just shows that after everything he is still a phenomenon. It has to be said that after Bad-album it all went
bad. Dangerous from 1991was so-so and then there was a lot of schmaltz and forgettable stuff after that.

Michael´s last tour was meant to be called "This Is It"...any Church fan should have known that it was a bad idea to call it like that. Whatever it
is that you do, avoid the title This Is It like plague.

I honestly thought that there would an escape from this in Hotel Womb............
Honestly, so what? The man - paedophile. The music -Rubbish. All of it.Take away the contribution of some excellent musicians (David Williams, one of his noted guitarists died 2 months ago and nobody noticed) and all that's left is his nauseous yelping. Seems really scewed to mourn the death of a paedophile.............. |

I mean I always hear people complaining about the various tabloids -- you don't like tabloids just don't fucking read them! Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with people?

Well, with tabloids and the tabloid-y stuff on TV these days, it's often rather hard to avoid. It's easy to say "avert your eyes" or
"close your ears" but in reality it's difficult to block out all the white noise / trash. I was never remotely interested in Jackson. But I know
I'd be busted up if a member of the Church died. So I just try to respect the fact that different people have different reasons for admiring different
sorts of celebrities...
What has struck me as odd here is that no one had given a thought to this guy's music for years. The attention he'd received was because of his appearance and all the weird icky rumors / questions about his attraction to children. Then he dies and it's time to celebrate the king of pop? It seems disingenuous, a manufactured tabloid take.

Exactly.
You CAN'T avoid it. Trust me, when his nauseous racket comes on, I do my level best to avoid it. That was my point.Even in the rarified atmosphere of The Womb, which celebrates music infinitely more significant, you can't avoid it. There is nothing 'fucking wrong' with me. But there is a lot wrong with people that just look at the facts that suit them and not the whole picture............ |

No, I DIDN'T miss the point - I was simply very surprised anyone gave a damn on a serious music (not dancing, not yelping but MUSIC) site.
I must confess to reading this part of the site to see if there is any good music I've missed recently. Anyway, end of rant - thanks for your welcome |

"Why did no one pick up on it when he had shown all the signs of a heart attack? Wheezing noises, jerking of the arms, ashen complexion? I suppose to be
fair he has been showing all those symptoms since the mid eighties. Had Jackson's staff noticed something was wrong earlier he might have been saved, but
when they saw him grab his left arm, go stiff and yelp they just thought he was practising his moves for Beat It."

This is a real image, from a real iTunes store.
The only edit is the red frame and deleting my email address, otherwise the image is as was (in iTunes 9 the store looks different).
Mr. Jackson and Mr. Kilbey have common fans it would seem.... And BTW, I haven't purchased anything (yet) at the mexican iTunes store (and full disclosure, I do have The Essential Michael Jackson, I don't have Egyptian Register). It seems this Michael- topic lives on and why shouldn´t it? His music will be part of our world forever and all the other stuff will fade away.
There are some comments here that this is not suitable material for Hotel Womb. If you think so then please feel free to inform the womb of your discoveries and keep up the high quality of the forum.
