well, i am listening to HOB at work today. I had quite the negative rxn to the cd when it first came out. i listened to it again a year later, still didn't like it.

8 years of perspective changes a man. i think i had a hard time adjusting to the muddiness of the recording. the church always had a fairly tight/crisp sound. even in p=a, a dreamy cd, the sound itself is fairly clear. much of the sound in HOB is undifferentiated. at closer listen, there are crisp parts within the mud, i guess you could call this texture. but after quite of few cd's using this mixing style, my ears have adjusted and i think i can appreciate it more.

still not one of my favorite church cd's but i can say i like it now and will give it at least a few spins a year for a change of pace.
