despite my critisisms 'Starfish', you'll note that I still rank it as
one of their three best and, depending on the time of year and
my ever-increasing mood swings, it even gets top-billing from
time to time.
In your comparison to 'Heyday', you called it 'sparse, fresh and light'.
Sparse it is, as compared to 'Heyday', certainly.
Fresh, yes, as are almost all of their releases when you think
about it.
But, IMO 'light' it certainly is not.
It broods at times, and descends into a darkness in others.
But every song has a 'lighter' moment within it and that, IMO
is what makes it so interesting, fresh?
