I might've liked this album better if it weren't my first introduction to the Church. The production is bland, the song structures stodgy...despite the fact that this album feels that it has a rod up it's arse, there are some highlights.track by track

1.Pharoah- Kind of catchy...good song.
2. Metropolis- I wish the rest of the songs on GAF were like this. Wistful...with an awesome ending
3. Terra Nova Cain- So so song. Despite some nice guitar work
4. City-Indicates what's wrong with the album. Nothing happens in the song.
5.Monday Morning- See 4.
6. Russian Autumn Heart- Not a fav,but at least it's fast and fairly exciting.
7. Essence- 2nd fav on the album. Good song with an awesome knockout ending
8. You're Still Beautiful- Should not have been a single.Kinda bleh
9. Disappointment- A really good mid-tempo song. Again, nice guitar at the end
10. Transient- I love this song. Should've been a single. Koppes should sing more on Church albums!
11. Laughing- Another really good midtempo tune. I like that guitar in the "laughing at you" part.
12. Fading Away- Thought provoking...another winner...
13. Grind- I like it,not a fav..but who can deny the middle eastern guitar?

GAF= One of those rare albums where most of the good songs are stuck on the end.
