"Gold Afternoon Fix "is definetly a strong album and the first I bought when I was 15 years old.And I'm not ashamed to say that i like reasonnably INXS."Listen Like Thieves" has to stay a good album, also" Kick "and" X".
Elton John is pathetic but I liked it when I was 11.
Returning to the topic, I agree totally with Marcelo about seasons.Gaf represents autumn also for me and very good souvenirs, maybe there's a bit of nostalgia.
I remember trying to transfer the bass line of Essence on my acoustic guitar too.
Despite some filler tracks like "City"or,"Monday Morning", all the rest sounds today like a very clear and at the same time mysterious. I mean it seems the men had their head on their shoulders despite problems with Richard Ploog. The sound is made of crystal glass and there's "sand in my sandals ".
Priest Equals Aeron , the whole album is a treasure but don't say You're still Beautiful is bleh(what's that?).
The lyrics are great:
"You turned up backstage at the palace
We thought you was wearing a mask
I felt so fucking embarrassed
When you looked at your reflection and asked,
You asked, are you still beautiful babe...
It is the ideal single song !
My strongest moments are also:
Pharaoh
Essence
Laughing
Disappointment
Transient
Grind.
Fading Away
................Now
i'm waiting for After Everything Now This to feel the thrill.
I hope the thrill is not gone away!
p.s: I think the photos in GAF are at most beautiful!
