Good line... I like it.
You made mention of storytelling and lyrics from 'Essence'.
Indeed, 'Essence' is not only by far my favourite song from
'GAF' but, IMO it's a complete reflection of the album as a
whole- brilliant 'idea'-wise, but flawed in its execution.
The middle-interlude of guitar is completely lacking in any
thought or feeling and the ending manages to be even worse.
The rest of the song and, lyrically also, it's a Church/Kilbey
gem.
My real beef with 'GAF' is that unlike the vast majority of their
releases the "gems" are spread out accross the songs- there
are no true gems AS songs.
In any case, just so none of you get the wrong impression
of me from my harshness, 'GAF' is still leagues ahead in
listenability and talent than many CDs I've bought in the
last ten or so years.
