This is the best Church release since AENT, in my opinion. The strings really add a lot of beauty, and the song selection is excellent.

Wide Open Road- I've never heard the original, but I'll be tracking it down. A great pop song.

It's No Reason- The highlight of the album. The original is nice, albeit marred by Seance's bad production, but this is sublime. What a great song.

Reptile- Nice almost glammy arrangement...really swings.

Tantalized- The song is buried a bit, but the Harrison-esque arrangement is pretty nifty.

Electric Lash- Ah, so nice not to have to hear that heinous snare roll from Seance. Thanks guys!

After Everything- My fave from AENT, so any way they want to do this is fine by me. Lovely cello.

Song In The Afternoon (new song)- Pretty good...like the originals on EMD, a little thin lyrically, but pleasant.

Two Places At Once- Not sure if this needed to be done, since the original was pretty acoustic, but another fave, so bring it on!

Appalatia- A nice new interpretation of PK's tune.

Bordello (new song)- Bizarre lyrics, but SK sounds like he's having a great time, so it's infectious.

Pure Chance- I like this stripped down version better than the ULTC version. Good guest vocal spot too.

Grind- Another classic. SK's late career vocal prowess (and some of his now well-known history) adds a new layer of tragic poignancy.

North, South, East and West- Not as radical a reinterpretation as Reptile, but good.

Comeuppance (new song, instrumental)- Not special, but a pretty good instrumental.

This album sounds even more confident than EMD, not a throw away acoustic collection at all, but a jewel in the band's discography. Well done!

PS Chaos Music online sells this at a very reasonable price. Two weeks shipping time to Canada, not bad!
