Sometime Anywhere will always be a hot summer album for me. Despite its autumn references.

DOTD lands me squarely in some crowded dream Mexico and I see it all through SK's eyes. It's a brilliant piece of work.

Lost My Touch works beautifully I think. Such perfect bitterness. 'The day I need you they can feed me to the lions'

It took me years to fully appreciate the song Loveblind in its Raymond Chandler meets Year of the Cat way. I love it. Brilliant acoustic playing.

My Little Problem is good. The pacing and arrangement are a shade murky but I see past it. SK's voice is gorgeous. It's a grown up lyric. The closest they will ever come to songs such as those on Springsteen's 'Tunnel of Love' album.

The Maven. I like the idea but the song has rarely hit the spot for me.

Angelica is fun fluff. You simply must appreciate Marty's insistent 'my tongue is wet, my tongue is wet, is it gonna get wet?' ...ladies?

Lullaby is a gorgeous little piece. In the days when this album came out there was precious little press about the band. With no Peter Koppes on the album I presumed this was his elegy. And they compared him to the Christ child. How touching. And wrong!

Eastern is a great instrumental. I once made a cassette of Bachir Attar's music (and the Master Musicians of Jajouka) for the owner of a mediterranean restaurant. There was some room left over on the tape so I added this song. The guy's wife LOVED it. It won me free dinner for me and 3 guests!

Two Places At Once
is timeless. I don't mind the meandering passages between verses; it's brilliant.

Business Woman is where I part ways with the band. I LOVE THIS SONG. Pete Townshend would be proud of the acoustic work. I like the lyric. The only sin is the buried guitar solo.

Authority is great too -probably better. Kilbey sounds good in C. Another grown up song.

Fly Home is a sprawling mini epic. Forget about Pink Floyd. It contains one of the heaviest riffs in the Church canon too. 'captured you and chopped off your hand'. Superb.

The Dead Man's Dream is nice. I cringe just a little with 'colored mists and amethysts' but the song is wonderful. Listen for that wonderful little acoustic part.

They should have include The Time Being on the original release. I recall sending A DOLLAR to Arista (hiss) for the bonus disc.
