Florian, my 'Finned Fiend'...

If there's anything I would change on 'Heyday' it would be the
horns and the 'wall' of strings. I exagerate when I say 'wall' of
course, but then only you could use the term 'Broadway Musical' and
'The Church' in the same sentence.
Once again, it is time for you to get real!

I loved how the Church incorporated synthesizers into 'Remote Luxury'.
They used it truly in a way that fitted their sound and the instrument
truly added a 'nice touch'.
Firstly, I think the orchestral arrangements on 'Heyday' were
more than 'a touch' and the horns simply weren't 'nice'.
But 'Troutsky', these are minor incursions on an otherwise
brilliant landscape of sound, texture and music.
I remain mystified why the boys didn't use what they learnt with the
synths from 'RL' on this album.

And you think the album was over-produced? Because of a few
horns and strings? But I'm sure you love the 'radiotronics' on
'HOB'! Bet you can't wait for more...

'Youth Worshipper' is filler, yes. 'Night of Light' is one of my
favourites on the album- I guess I managed (somehow) to
accept a tinge of 'Broadway Musical' overtones.
'Tantalized' is one of my least favourites. Surprised?
Strangely though, when I first heard the song I was blown away (as with 'Myrrh'). 'Myrrh' still rates as among my all-time
favourites whereas 'Tantalized' has come to bore me. The
horns didn't help. What a terribly 'over-produced' song!

I'll be back later.
Fraulein.
Bliss comes first as a jangling flood ...
