In the mid-80s almost every pop song had brass on it, whether it was appropriate or not. In my view, the brass used on Heyday was an attempt to make the album more commercial. Marty has said that he didn't like the brass and I agree with him. It seems superfluous. The Church are not about brass.

My fave tracks from this album are Tristesse, Already Yesterday, Tantalised and Disenchanted. I can recall a Church gig I went to in 1990. Marty was having some technical problems with his guitar and while he and his roadie were sorting it out, Steve, Peter and Jay Dee began playing Happy Hunting Ground off the cuff and it was exquisite. The audience went bananas when they finished playing the piece.
