I have always considered the EPs as something of a space for the band to muck about and experiment, before the album proper.

REMOTE LUXURY (EP - 1984)

Maybe These Boys (Kilbey)
No Explanation (Kilbey)
Violet Town (Kilbey)
10,000 Miles Away (Willson-Piper,Kilbey)
Remote Luxury (Kilbey)

My least favourite recording of the Church's and I very rarely listen to it. To me it had a very metallic, cold and remote (maybe the name), feel to it.

PERSIA (EP - 1984)

A Month Of Sundays(Kilbey)
Constant In Opal (Kilbey)
Volumes (Willson-Piper)
Into My Hands (Kilbey)
Shadow Cabinet (Kilbey,Koppes,Willson-Piper,Ploog)

Has a much more human feel. Many more layers here and Shadow Cabinet is one of my favourite songs. I always felt sad that it was never included in an album proper. Each of these songs is strong, beautiful and intricate.

And to round off...

SING SONGS (EP 1982)

A Different Man (Kilbey)
Ancient History (Kilbey)
The Night Is Very Soft (s.Kilbey/r.kilbey)
In This Room (kilbey)
I Am a Rock (p.simon)

This is so touching, so personal and just so special. I would listen to this much more often than the two later EPs.

I an really eager to have these on CD, as my vinyl versions are really not playable (too much effort and the scratchy noises etc). I also think it will help to make a few of these songs see the light of day again, which will be wonderful.

I believe it's absolute blasphemy for the record companies to have ever put RL and P together (under one name)... and then to mix up the tracks! Mind you I have a copy (though I cannot recall whether I have ever played it).
