It's a very good album, Amanda. It just bothers me that critics are going to laud whatever Wilco puts out (for now). You know as well as I that artists such as Lloyd Cole, Steve Kilbey, and Grant McLennan have been putting out superb music (occasionally experimental, often anchored by acoustic guitar) for years, usually not even registering a blip on the radar. I'm glad Wilco have made it, but their sheen may tarnish yet (not wishing them any career misfortune...). And please Jeff Tweedy, if you're reading this, no more mentions of 'diet coke and cigarettes' please.
Wilco are better than 90% of what's on the radio, TV, etc. but they aren't to be considered in the same league as the Church, L. Cole, Trashcan Sinatras, Billy Bragg, et al. Not yet.
Cheers, Noel

Honestly, I don't care what critics say about anything since I don't read any music press. I don't listen to the radio or watch music television either. I just hate to see a group regarded as important, when in fact they're quite ordinary.
