I played this latest wilco cd over the weekend.....at first I was agreeing with the critics, then the voice happened. hm. About half way through the intro song, they rearranged the voice to blend with the music, instead of layering it on top like the beginning. I prefer the lateral.

The rest of the music is similar, some tracks do seem rather average for the hyper-love that's in motion about it. The overall style seems more like they wannbe a beautiful, abstract version of R.E.M. and I enjoy this. It's not a favorite style of music.....far from my fav. of the year- Dabble.

I'm anticipating an even better Wilco cd next time though, and I'd probably buy it after hearing Yankee Foxtrox 1 1/2 times. I'm just not dying to hear it again, but I'm sure I'll like it better whenever I hear it again. I used to play Wilco in a set with Pavement, and the last Wilco/Billy Bragg was alright with me, although I didn't buy it, and probably won't. I can think of things higher on my list- Ash Ra Temple is coming out with a new cd soon....there's Peter Koppes latest that will be my next purchase.
