Heresy CD I

1. Tristesse my own song, so no real comments there 12 string acoustic, effected electric guitar, faster tempo done a whole step higher in pitch.
2. Altres (Into My Hands): Lush recording with cool keyboard parts and great backup harmonies and very interesting sounds throughout. What a great cover, one of the best.
3. Cosmetic Attitude (Constant In Opal): Defintely one of my favs; very trippy a great dreamy version with a slower tempo. It rivals the original in my opinion!
4. Alton (Almost With You): nicely recorded version sung higher than the original. Nice keyboard flourishes, solid bass and lush backing vocals. This is a very cool version with some nice alterations in the melody line.
5. Maurizio Tommasini (Hotelwomb): another top song from this compilation. This take of HW has one of the most unique vocals on the disc. The lush, full flavor of this version fits perfect with the originals concept and sound, but adds a nice almost tropical flavor.
6. Davide Valecchi (Pharoah) murky (in a good way) electronic version with some unexpected twists thrown in, reminds me of both Depeche Mode and the Cure in parts. The sounds in this would be cool in some dark movie soundtrack.
7. John Black (Youth Worshipper): Ive always liked this song anyway John is another one of those guys with a unique vocal approach which is always good to hear. The harmonies hit you unexpectedly in this. Good guitar work also!
8. Tony Pucci (Bel-Air): one of my fav tunes. As always great guitar and bass work from Tony Trademark Pucci vocals on this which add to the original sound of this cover, as does his cool wah pedal magic.
9. Noel Riddell & me (Already Yesterday): this is really Noels song, I only helped on the vocal. Noels vision of this song was to keep it stripped down and basic, allowing the strength of the melody and lyrics to stand on their own, which it does. Great guitar work he did also and a nice 12 string guitar solo.
10. Tom & Paul (Loveblind): Fabulous. I dont know if this was done sampling some of the original and then embelishing, or if this was all done from the ground up, but the recording is probably the best on here. Lush, full and totally pro sound. Its so good you could almost mistake it for the original.
11. Alton (Moon Festival): True to the original, but with a fuller, deeper sound. Dreamy. Very good.
12. Charcoal Ed (Invisable): This 2001 Space Oddity version of Invisible throws you some curves! This is invisible, with alternate lyrics sung/spoken by the female version of Stephen Hawkings. This should probably be on Parallel Universe.
13. Rob Lurie (Authority): This is one of my fav S/A tunes. Rob does a laid back version, sung higher than the original. Its a very basic version instrumentally speaking, and has almost a southern twang to the vocals. A nice interpretation, well done.

CD II review forthcoming!
