I think he's a "dry drunk." I've treated hundreds of substance dependent people and while it is not clinically delineated there is certainly a dry drunk "profile", characterized by someone who has stopped using but not tempered the personality characteristics that either evolved from their addiction or kindled it. Such characteristics include defensiveness (most commonly in the form of denial, minimization, and rationalization), lack of humility, lack of empathy, a tendency to vascillate between emotional constriction and reactivity, passive aggressiveness, cognitive inflexibility, and pseudo-religiosity.

I would not be the least bit surprised if he is drinking again. Let's not forget the incident in is first term where he allegedly passed out from choking on a pretzel. Also, remember when he fell of the Segway?

I think Bush is a very sick man and he has quite successfully cast our nation into his alcoholic family, pitting enablers against scapegoats. He is our Warren G. Harding, only more incompetent and nowhere near as handsome.
