The western U.S. has been plagued for the past half dozen years with extreme drought conditions. As a result millions of acres of forest are now gone. The "experts" blame low snow pack conditions over most of the western mountains. Our glaciers are melting, that is a fact. If you've never been to Glacier Park or Waterton Park, you better hurry. It is a vicious cycle because with these prolonged fire seasons, the fires are dumping tons of extra Carbon Monoxide into the atmosphere. Three out of the past five years here in SW Montana we have had smokey summers, so bad that you can't go outdoors, visibility is zero, and this makes for a lousy summer.
