Creel is out of the running, or so it seems with only a round of pre-candidate voting at PAN left.
And a good thing for that party and for Mxico too.

I would have chosen Creel only as the lesser of three evils.
Thankfully Caldern is emerging as the likely candidate.
I don't share your concern that he is ultra-conservative, you have to realize that as much as PAN might be a center-right party in the statutes in the practice is much more center than right wing.

Caldern offers a way to continue what was good from the Fox presidency and correct the mistakes they made (while Creel only seemed like continuing on the same).

Madrazo Pintado (el moretn :) ) is definitely not an option. Montiel is the lesser of the two ultimate evils that the PRI wants to offer, but is still not a choice.

And your Peje... he's worse that returning to the PRI. Andrs Manuel Lopez Obrador and buddies are worse than the current crop of PRI politicians.
They are from the earlier crop of PRI.
The main politicians at PRD remain a splinter group from PRI, with the same old tactics and populism.
Cardenas, Lopez Obrador, all of them, only left the PRI because a different cabal was reigning at the party. Once they saw their political aspirations had no room left at PRI they formed the PRD.
And they took advantage of all the democratic advances made by the true opposition (PAN among them) while all the perredistas were priistas.

The PRI is a return to the past, the PRD is a return to an older and worse past. AMLO is nothing but an old PRI member with a new lapel pin.
PAN, as much as I might dislike some things about them, remains the only sensible choice.
The lesser of three evils if you want, but at least not as bad.
Maybe in 2012 we'll finally be able to vote for the best, instead of the less-worse, but that is not the way it is now.

And actually I think that Caldern might actually be a better politician than the other current choices. I'm waiting to hear more of him, to see more of what is his plan, but what I've heard already sounds better than anything else.
