I just recieved this from Oxfam.

The recent campaign action on Nestls US$6 million compensation claim against famine-stricken Ethiopia has been a huge success. Thanks to the negative media coverage, and more than 40,000 emails of complaint, Nestl immediately softened its stance. The company will soon begin talks with the Ethiopian government. Thanks to everyone who took action. You can find out more at

Since its launch in September, the coffee focus of Oxfam's Make Trade Fair campaign has made real progress towards getting the industry to work for poor producers as well as big businesses. Find out more at

In 2003, we must keep up the pressure on the big four coffee companies. Tomorrow, Oxfam Belgium is presenting a petition at the Brussels headquarters of Sara Lee, makers of Douwe Egberts coffee. More than 126,000 people have signed the petition, demanding that the company give coffee farmers a decent price.

If you havent yet taken action, please do it now at

If your original email did not get through the first time, we have re-sent it to Nestl to ensure your voice counts.

Thanks again for being part of Oxfams global campaign to Make Trade Fair, and we look forward to your continued support in 2003.
