My only issue with this report is that it gives no statistics to compare with the knowledge of citizens of other countries in the world. Are there corresponding statistics for AUS, UK etc? For all I know, the low scores of US and other students mentioned may be the highest in the world... Likely not. :) And although I feel it is important to understand the relative locations of our neighbors and fellow world citizens, I disagree with the article's assertion that a person cannot be well informed on most world issues if they can't point to a country on a map.

I wasn't taught any geography in school except for US geography and obviously key places that we studied like Japan, UK, Canada, Mexico, AUS, Vietnam N+S, Korea N+S, China, Russia... Thats about it as far as I can remember. There's a lot more to the world...
