Joffa, if I walk into a nursery and ask for Pittosporums, I may be asked to take my business elsewhere! I'll run a search on them, they're likely called something else stateside.
Memphi, the soil here is very fertile and dark with a bit of clay mixed in. The climate is moderate (Kentucky) with mild to average Winters. Virtually anything non-tropical will grow here.
Tony, the Ausse trees exceed the height I'm after, but they might do for the back of the place. I was considering some Lombardy Poplars or Italian Cypress for a windbreak/screen on my Southern exposure.
