Gonna resurrect this thread to put in my two cents worth....this album is not very well like by most, and I can understand why....yet despite that, I love this cd. Maybe its because Marty really comes out on this cd (vocally and guitar-wise), but theres something about this cd that no matter how different it may be, its great. Think about it, what other way could they have followed up P=A? They had to do something crazy and different; there was no way they couldve repeated P=A. A lot of you say its disjointed and does not flow well, but I would argue that...I think it works well as a whole. Its a difficult cd to get into (I bought it, listened to it, put it away....then eventually it was resurrected) but when you do get into it, it puts you in a trance. Loveblind: I could go on and on and on about this song. Its the first Church song that just painted such vivid imagery for me. When it comes on, my mind just drifts; could you imagine a music video for this song? That wouldve been incredible. Angelica; SO nice to hear Marty finally lose it in a song. He's at full force, and you can hear the fun him and Steve are having creating this wonderfully crazy song. They mustve been pissed drunk when they recorded this....My Little Problem.....somthing about the guitar rythm gets me everytime. The way it perfectly fades from the background to the forfront then back again in the sound mix....Lost My Touch, throws the album in a 180 after the dark opener and is a great lead up track to Loveblind. Two Places at Once is a great track; Marty and Steve should do more duets like this....Business Woman, as cheesy as it is, I just love. Lyrically, almost tongue in cheek, but the music....oh its so perfect....its a great pop song, just, masterfully done...Fly Home is another track where Marty just unleashes....he just snarls through the chorus with the wicked guitar riff helping create the mood....then it fades out and lightens up...then another snarling chorus, just perfection. Dead Mans Dream has a very very catchy guitar riff...and the lyrics just flow and rhyme, with the acoustic guitar and keyboards chiming in to add to the mix....wonderfully mixed song...All in all, this cd is something completely different and I think thats why I appreciate it so much more....the band had to do this in order to give themselves a fresh starting point... Most of us can agree P=A was a high point for them, thus SA seems to be the band (half of them) returning to the ground to re-build themselves up again, re-invent themselves if you will, rather than try to one up P=A, which wouldve been impossible....
