Another late night album. At its heights the atmospherics on this record are truely sublime (Anasthasesia is another classic Church intro) and there's a few fairly accesible numbers I'd include on a "getting into the Church" mix CD -> Lousiana, Glow Worm...

Though I feel the more up-tempo, rockier material (No Certainty Attached comes to mind) is a bit stifled by the production. It's also a shame that the Church's 90s output isn't available on vinyl - CDs are good'n'all and their albums from this era are very much made for CD (considering their length) but I still feel all music should be properly archived on wax.*

I wouldn't consider HOB to be a particularly innovative Church record but I probably play it a lot more than my more cherished Church moments (SA + MATS). An exercise in loveliness at the very least.

[like the SA bonus disc I haven't given Bastard Universe a listen yet, maybe tonight is the night...]

*a question: is Priest=Aura available on LP at all? i didn't even realise Sometime Anywhere had been until I came across it online last month on amazon marketplace
