Just felt a sudden need to de-lurk and say how much I like the new album. While ULTC had its moments I never really got into it. I wasn't exactly blown away by Shriek and I found SK's Painkiller a bit patchy. So with that in mind I was a little worried that the new album might be a bit lack lustre. How wrong I was. It's beautiful. It takes a few listens to reveal itself but then it's amazing. Quite a bold move, really and I guess many people will find it boring given the lack of rock/pop numbers. It sounds a lot like early Floyd in places which is fine by me. Not sure if it's the best Church album as it's so different from the others. It kinda stands on it's own really the way that Pharmakoi does if that makes sense. Nice to see that The Church still manage to surprise me after all those years.
Now if they could only play a few shows in New Zealand...
