this #23 is just fantastic. It has REALLY grown on me. The only songs that I don't absolutely love are #5 and #9 but those tunes do not get on my nerves in the least. At first I didn't like Anchorage. I dont know - i guess i thought it was a little too "epic" or "chorus-y" but that tune is giving me goose bumps now - it's awesome! I also get the goose bumps from that sad last line at the end of On Angel Street before the guitars come in and seal the emotion completely. Cobalt Blue is just so perfect. It's weird and a little "off key" but just dark, beautiful, and compelling like all church openers. Plus the guitars are perfect and the bass line is a real stoney groove. You listen to Deadmans hand and its very hard to believe that these guys are in their mid fifties. They sound like a fresh and vibrant young indie band on that tune. Pangaea, Happenstance, Sunken Sun, and Operetta are all incredible songs. I love each one of them immensely.

This is their best complete album since P=A and it's just as good as that one. I am just shocked at how much better Untitled is than the last one - and I like ULTC !

There is just perfection everywhere on this record. It flows gracefully from song to song and there are no clunkers on this one.

This band never became a nostalgia act or allowed themselves to be pinned down and categorized. Each album is completely different from the one before whether you like it or not. But yet their sound is so identifiable as the church and no one else. Their music is just one big magic trick that still leaves us mesmerized. Why do we love it? What is the exact thing that makes us love it? I dont know but it's all over the new record.

Thank you SK, PK, MWP, TP for one of your best ever. Please keep it going for at least a few more years. See ya at Rams Head in Annapolis on the 30th. CANT FREAKIN WAIT!!!
