This is a post from a BBS that I am on, spreading the word. High praise indeed.

I am speechless on how good this album is. I was thinking to myself that I don't know of many bands that have been around that long and have released that many albums (only The Fall and The Rolling Stones come to mind), not 12 to 14, but over 20 albums. And unlike The Rolling Stones or The Fall, where their later albums are really substandard or not to the level of earlier works, you can't say this about The Church. This band is one that continues to get better and better with age. So, I spun "Heyday" again (still like it a little more than "Starfish", sorry T n F about that but I do agree it is a little dated) and now I am listening to Untitled 23 again. Hell, I might listen to it again for a 3rd time before going to bed tonight.

So if "Priest=Aura" is even better than "Untitled 23", then I am going to be in for a real listening experience.

But out of all the albums I have gotten in the last 6 months, the 5 best are as follows (in no particular order):

"This Nation's Saving Grace" - The Fall
"Untitled 23" - The Church
"Second Edition" - Public Image Ltd
"The Modern Dance" - Pere Ubu
"Lick My Decals Off, Baby" - Captain Beefheart

This is saying something because I have also gotten stuff by Nick Cave, Sun Ra, Frank Zappa, Lee "Scratch" Perry, Scott Walker, Pale Saints, and Liars amongst others and all of those albums were great as well but they can't crack the 5 that I listed above.

Indeed, they're one of the only bands that's stuck to their guns and made the music they've wanted. As they have said in interviews, "we aren't good at the game because we don't play it." Abit like peeking at the end of and epic novel going to U23 at this point but welcome to the club man!
