To me those bonus tracks are actually more interesting than the "regular" ones. XMAS is the subversively psychedelic Christmas song I've always wanted. And just in time for Christmas! Thanks Santa! It think the song works perfectly. It makes me want to invite Bowie and Syd Barrett over for eggnog (which might be hard since Barrett is dead).

I love the slinky rhythm of Marine Drive. It sounds like it's been informed a bit by early 70's soul. Not something you would expect from the church and that provides a sheen of freshness for me. I'd love it if they explored further in this direction.

The Girl is Buoyant should have been the single, IMO (or Old Coast Road). It would have drawn more people to the album if it had been showcased instead of the somber Pride Before the Fall. It's poppy, true, but very well done poppy that never becomes saccharine.
