A remember reading a Peter Koppes interview on the Shadow Cabinetsite (or on a site linked from it) that PK/SK/TP stopped in at Marty's
place (in England, I think) for a few days while en route to the
studio for the 'BOB' recordings.
Apparently, Marty has something around 10,000 LPs and, the
boys spent the whole time there perousing and listening to his
collection. PK said none of the songs originally planned for the
album were recorded, but were replaced with others they had
discovered through Marty's collection.
It would be interesting to know what the originally planned songs were.
Just as interesting as perhaps, how they came to agree on the
songs actually recorded.
'Heroshima Mon Amour' is without a doubt my favourite.
The version of 'Cortez The Killer' was done excuisitely and 'Endless Sea'
captures me as though this could have been done on 'OSAH'.
I admit, apart from 'All The Young Dudes' which, surely didn't need to be
coverered by anyone again, I'd never heard any of the remaining
songs on the album.
And, for the most part, I don't want to here them again.
That being said, the CD's worth the price alone for 'HMA' and 'CTC'.
PS: I give any four people credit for being able to agree on
ten cover songs without coming to blows. Especially in a house
with 10,000 LPs. That's like... 100,000 songs...
Fraulein.
