(In keeping with the ongoing album reviews, I thought I'd restart the OSAH debate since whatever was said before is no longer on the Womb. So here is my brief, opinionated review of OSAH. As a bloody American, I have to review the Arista CD version with TFFY, TIAA, and Sisters as bonus tracks.)
OF SKINS AND HEART - a well-intentioned debut album that sounds a bit dated. A few songs sound very shallow to my ears these days (She Never Said, Too Fast For You, Chrome Injury), and a hit single that the band has refused to play since, when, 1985? Still, some of the guitar work is excellent, and the best songs (see below) helped point the band in the right direction. Personally, I'm not the biggest fan of the New Wave sound (for example, I gave up on The Cars at age 17), so I'm glad The Church didn't go too far in that direction.
