I've seen several Lincoln commercials while recovering from a bad cold this week. All of them feature covers. All have female vocalists singing songs originally sung by men. I'm guessing they were going for a cohesive style there.

Whoever licenses a song will have to pay royalities to whoever holds the publishing rights. But I believe there's more involved with getting the permissions to use original versions. Anybody have any more specific information about this?
